Christmas characters
Meet the Christkind
In German Christmas tradition, the Christkind is a symbol of generosity and the wonder of Christmas. The tradition became popular in German-speaking Europe beginning in the 16th century and remains closely connected to the Christkindlmarkt.
This year, we are delighted to welcome Lux M. as Albuquerque’s Christkind, appearing in a hand-sewn costume to share the spirit of the season with visitors. We look forward to sharing more information and a photo as details are finalized.
Meet Santa
Santa and his helpers will bring festive cheer to this year’s market. Appearance times and photo opportunities will be announced once confirmed.
Who Is Krampus?
Krampus is a figure from Alpine winter folklore, traditionally appearing during the Advent season alongside St. Nicholas. Often depicted with horns and shaggy fur, the character is part of a centuries-old Central European seasonal tradition.
Meet our
market photographer.
We’re pleased to welcome Olivia Bischoff as the market’s official event photographer. Olivia is a University of New Mexico civil engineering student who also enjoys documenting the people, energy and meaningful moments that make community celebrations special.
Photography may take place during market hours, and selected images may appear on our website, social media and future promotional materials. If you would rather not be photographed, please let the photographer know so your preference can be respected.
Make a day of it.
